If you are a student in the Arlington Central School District, you most likely spend quite a bit of time in this building during your last four years. I call it 'the city that never sleeps', because no matter the day or time, there always seems to be activity. I am thankful that my children were/are lucky enough to be educated in the Arlington district. While not all teachers have been stellar, we have been blessed with more than our fair share of extraordinary teachers from kdg. on up. These individuals have been passionate about what they do and committed to educating my children. They have given so much to my children....skills, knowledge, guidance, inspiration, support. My children have not even fully appreciated all that they have received....but as they progress in life, they will come to understand. The gifts our family have received from these teachers has been immeasurable. The notion that we could even begin to measure what my children have learned and how they have grown, or the quality of their teacher by the scores on a state test is incomprehensible to me. I learned early on that the state test results were no indication of my children's performance or potential. If these tests are not accurate reflections of my child's progress, how then, can they be used to evaluate their teachers? I believe we need to value education, respect our teachers and refuse state testing for our children.#the100dayproject #100daysofmaking
